Yen Ta Fo Sauce

Yen Ta Fo sauce or “Nam Yen Ta Fo” ( น้ำเย็นตาโฟ ) is an instant seasoning sauce for the Thai Yen Ta Fo soup. The red to pink color is normally created with red fermented tofu. However, there is usually no trace of this in the instant pastes, but plenty of red food coloring instead. Therefore, the instant products typically have no strong distinctive flavor.

You can find this sauce in well-stocked Asian supermarkets that also offer other products from Thailand. There you might also find Thai instant noodle packages with Yen Ta Fo sauce, for example from the well-known Mama brand.
